Wisconsin Hospital Association Continues to Ready for COVID-19 Possibilities

Ann Zenk RN BSN MHA, Vice President Workforce and Clinical Practice, sent out an email to C-suite staff on February 26, 2020 to provide an update on the Coronavirus (COVID 19) and the efforts being made by Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) to keep hospitals abreast of the changing situation. In addition to the memo outlining WHA’s efforts to provide timely information, Ms. Zenk also provided details on how the FDA, CDC and DHS are handling the situation and their strategies for offering guidance to health care providers.

On the national level, on February 27, 2020, CMS.gov posted a new mlnconnects, the official CMS news from the Medicare Learning Network, that included coding guidance on COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center fo Health Statistics will implement a new ICD-10-CM diagnosis code for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), effective with the next update on October 1.
